Personal Protection & Disposal of Akrosorb Soda Lime
Personal Protection and Disposal of Akrosorb Soda Lime
Akrosorb Soda Lime is mildly alkaline so appropriate safety procedures should be implemented. Protective gloves, goggles, overalls and nuisance dust masks should be worn when working with Soda Lime granules, irrespective of whether they are in a fresh or used state.
The granules or any entrained dust should not be allowed to come into prolonged contact with skin and contact with mucous membranes and eyes must be totally avoided.
Wash thoroughly after handling. In case of contact, immediately flush eyes or skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. If inhaled, move to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Give large quantities of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. In all cases, get medical attention immediately.
Exhausted or waste Soda Lime will contain some residual alkalinity, but can normally be disposed off at a suitable land-fill site, etc.
