Aquapura-Farmsafe is a water-soluble effervescent tablet containing the active ingredient Troclosene Sodium also known as Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC). When dissolved in water, a powerful disinfectant solution is formed by the release of free available chlorine.

GENERAL ENVIRONMENT DISINFECTION
Solution prepared from Aquapura-Farmsafe Disinfectant Tablet is recommended in the following areas:
FOOT BATHS:
All personnel should use foot baths at the entrance point to each house, and on leaving the site.
Use a dosage of 1000 ppm, and replenish regularly (at least twice per week).
VEHICLES:
Wheel dips should be provided for entrance and exit to the site.
Use a dosage of 1000 ppm, and replenish regularly (at least twice per week).Transport vehicles and equipment should be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected with a solution of 500 ppm between each run.
ENTRANCE TO HOUSES:
Daily wash and disinfect the area immediately outside the entrance to each house using a solution strength of 500 ppm.
HAND WASHING:
It is necessary to wash hands in a disinfectant solution at certain critical points e.g. before collecting eggs, use a solution strength of 100 ppm.

Introduction:
Freshly harvested finfish contain a diverse natural microflora, whose levels may range from 2 to 7 log cfu/cm2 (Liston, 1980). Furthermore, the presence of large amounts of non protein nitrogen in fish tissue and the near-neutral pH (>6.0) make fish tissue an ideal medium for growth of bacteria (Gram & Huss, 1996). Shellfish contain similar groups of microorganisms but may also contain the microbial pathogens in the waters in which they grow, as molluscs are filter feeders and concentrate these within themselves. Therefore, processing needs to include steps to reduce the microbial load on the surface of the fish and keep the surfaces that come in contact with fish clean to prevent cross-contamination. The use of chlorine based compounds in the fish and fishery product industry is mainly focused on the end point disinfection of the product contact and the non-product contact surfaces.
The application of Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) is directly to the edible portions of fish and shellfish. It is useful to wash or rinse steps on whole fish and the dipping of fillets for pathogen reduction.
It is effective against the viruses associated with food borne disease, especially in shellfish. It is used in seafood processing sanitation applications.
